Please can someone give me some painting tips?

i'm covering naturalistic still life in art class.
i'm not @ drawing real life, proud of turn out of drawing of flowers.
have paint our drawing, , can't paint.
i'm drawing roses , lilies, , have lot of fiddly petals. i'll try , photo in next few minutes.
can give me advice on how paint them, without colours bleeding eachother, , smuding all?
