Credit card co. suing in small claims court--help?

ok, had financial trouble 4 or 5 years back. have since cleaned credit of attorney , on track. thought particular debt written off, today served @ home notice in small claims court! capital 1 bank suing $2,200. advised not credit if had paid debt, totally fees , not actual amount charged, , did not dream sued in small claims court. yes, realize screwed financially, obvious , have fixed that. wondering this. company suing me fees tacked on. anyway, don't know if expect me 1)not show , judgment automatically put in against me or 2)get scared, call them (they put number in papers "work out") , pay requested amount. advice?
