What's causing my monitor to blink/flash?

monitor turns blank (blacks out) every once in while, , it's becoming bothersome, because increasing in frequency. have site visited made monitor flash beat of background music? how fix it? i've ran full system virus scan, ad-ware scan, , spyware scan no avail.
